Yoga at The Healing Loft

Yoga, an ancient practice that originated in India, has touched the lives of millions of people all over the world. This holistic practice integrates movement, breath and meditation as a pathway to physical well-being, mental clarity, and inner peace.

Through the practice of yoga, we can learn to appreciate the power of our breath, the strength of our bodies, and the wisdom of our hearts. We can learn to cultivate mindfulness, compassion, and gratitude, and to live our lives with greater purpose and meaning.

Yoga is more than just a physical practice. It is a philosophy -a way of life. It teaches us to cultivate awareness, to be present in the moment, and to let go of attachment to outcomes. It helps us to navigate the ups and downs of life with greater ease and grace, and to find joy and peace in even the most challenging circumstances.

At The Healing Loft, we believe that yoga is for everyone and we create a safe and nurturing space for students of all levels. Our team of experienced teachers will guide you through the practice, helping you to move at your own pace and listen to your body.

Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, we invite you to join us in the journey of slowing down and finding balance within yourself.

Our studio is well-stocked with yoga mats, blankets, blocks, straps, and other props for your convenience and use. However, you are always welcome to bring your own yoga equipment from home.

  • About Yin Yoga

Embark on a journey of deep release and inner exploration with Yin Yoga, a practice that seeks to harmonize the body's energy flow and nourish the connective tissues and fascia. Unlike more dynamic forms of yoga, Yin Yoga is a passive practice, inviting practitioners to surrender into each pose for extended periods, typically ranging from 3 to 5 minutes.

In Yin Yoga, we move towards sensation, allowing the body to gradually open up and release tension as we breathe into each shape. This prolonged time in each pose encourages mindfulness, providing a sacred space to connect with the mind, body, and heart. Guided by the principles of stillness and softness, Yin Yoga offers an opportunity to safely explore your range of motion while cultivating acceptance and letting go of what no longer serves you. As you surrender into the practice, you'll discover a profound sense of release and relaxation, allowing energy to flow freely throughout the body. Yin Yoga is characterized by its gentle approach and emphasis on respecting the body's limitations. Practitioners are encouraged to listen to their bodies and honor their unique needs, avoiding any strain or discomfort. Through this practice, you'll cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself, finding stillness, softness, and acceptance both on and off the mat.

  • About Restorative Yoga

Experience the art of surrender as you recline into comfortable, supported poses using a variety of props such as bolsters, blankets & blocks. Each pose will encourage deep relaxation, release muscle tension & promote a profound sense of calm.

The goal of Restorative Yoga is to calm the nervous system. It is a very relaxing and accessible style of yoga. The majority of Restorative Yoga poses are practiced resting on the back or side, fully supported by cushiony props. The poses are held for extended periods of time to allow for deep rest and surrender. Restorative poses are practiced passively, requiring no physical or mental effort, as you immerse yourself in a state of deep relaxation and nervous system regulation. The system is designed to include a pleasurable, peaceful, and rejuvenated state of mind through the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system and relaxation response. With each session, students gradually deepen their levels of relaxation, cultivating a sense of inner peace that extends beyond the mat.

Restorative Yoga is a great practice for:

    -injury/surgery rehabilitation

    -insomnia

    -recovery from athletic endeavors
